Have had great success with Comex River Barniz 610 Spar Marino.
Used it on furniture and palapa posts. For iron buy the top end oil based orange primer, ie. heavier with more lead in the primer than the cheaper model. Follow with quality oil based enamel. Two coats each. Try two part Poly Form for a really tough transparent finish. All of the above at Comex, Melaque. If you need a good painter look for Julio Alvarez?, the brother of Tony and Sergio.
