Hi Norma, You did not put an email address, I am assuming you are the Norma who lives in La Manzanilla 1/2 the year. In response to your post 1)"friends from La Manzanilla didn't go to the news " How often do victims of crime go to news? Usually the news have ways of finding things out and would contact the victims to get their response / details etc. 2)"If you publicize narco activities, they target the reporter!" I don't think that is true, if you go to El Sol de Mazatlan's police section you find many stories about the results of narco activities. If it does get to the level of reporter intimidation it is truly a sad situation. http://www.oem.com.mx/elsoldemazatlan/justicia.aspx 3)"Mazatlan doesn't really want to publicize this" Probably true on some level but to say someone is actively suppressing information is quite a statement. If that was true then there would not be the police stories in the link above. 4)"A lot of people don't want to know and are in denial until it happens to them" Certainly true for the general population, but not true for people who are using message boards to keep up with news. I do find it interesting that I can't seem to find any main stream news about the incident in this thread (I am not an expert at Mexico news searches), nor does there seem to be any news reports about other carjackings, like the one Boca Bob talked about. Has carjacking become so common that it is not even news anymore, just something mentioned in a year end statistic? |
