helga, we have never met but i did live in boca for 4 years and am very familiar with la manzanilla. i am sorry you don't share other people's concern for violence and information regarding foreigners safety in mexico. i on the other hand like to be informed of current violent actions against other human beings in mexico, as my mother still lives in la manzanilla. i guess the term "human beings" is important because i don't want to see anything happen to anyone regardless of where they are from. i don't care if you like or dislike the united states BUT comparing every act of violence in mexico against every act of violence in the united states is silly and childish. my belief is that when someone post something on this board it is to INFORM other people to beware, as traveling and living in another country does warrent being cautious and informed and aware of our surroundings. my husband and i lived in our home until we had a home invasion, which resulted in our trucks being stolen, what money we had on our bodies taken and me being shot. i could no longer live there and we have moved back to the states. this did not result in me hating mexico or mexicans BUT it did make me realize that violence exist in bad people's hearts and we need to be INFORMED AND AWARE, to keep ourselves safe to the best of our ability. while i know that this event happens in every country, every city, probaly at this very moment, i chose to report it on this board, last oct. 2009, to INFORM other human beings, american, canadian, mexican, german, chinese, french.... so that they could make decisions regarding their safety with actual facts. please know that not all of us have your thick skin. please know that others of us have been stopped at every checkpoint and our cars searched. please understand that our comfort zones may not be equal to yours. please understand that not all of the united states is evil. i am sure that you have tons of repeat customers every year from the united states that you actually like, dispite your dislike for my country. i personally appreciate all information we are given based on FACTS, it makes life's decisions at least a little easier when we all care about each other and try to make sure we are as safe as we can be, when travelling in ANY country. i wish you well and i wish all of us safety and goodness, regardless of where we are from, where we live or where we visit.
