magical afternoon swim

Today I again swam to the Rocks at our inner Bay area. When I got there, I spoke to the birds, as usual. Then, I looked below the water and saw 2 small yellow fish with black stripes swimming close to me. They stayed close to me, swimming under my floating stomach, over my stomach when I turned on my back, around my arms when I held them forward and 'sat' in my outheld palms under the water.

Then, I swam away and stopped. A seabird then flew from the Rock and sat in the water about 10' from me, looking at me. I decided to see how close I could get. I swam to 5' and stopped. He just sat there, calm, looking at me. I then looked at him from under the water, seeing his big webbed feet, paddling the water. It was like National Geographic! When I came up, he was looking at me calmly. I wonder if those birds know me from talking to them each time I swim out there.

Then I looked under the water again and the same 2 yellow fish had found me and were doing their same routine! I watched them a while and then I began to slowly head back, rolling, bobbing, playing. I had gone a distance when I looked and there below me were the same 2 yellow fish about 4' below me! I couldn't believe they had followed me. When I'd slow to a minnow's pace, they'd rise and begin the touching, darting around my arms and 'sitting' in my hands they'd done before!!

I decided to experiment. I'd swim the breast stroke away for a while, then slow. Sure enough, there below me about 4' down were the same 2 fish, following me. They then rose to begin the same close body routine. They kept this up literally all the way back to the breaking waves of the beach.

It was a magical afternoon swim with thousands of sunbeams streaking down to the ocean floor.

Just a reminder that I am offering swim lessons or swims to the Rocks for any who would like. Have had some takers. The only fee is a donation from the ex pats to my Non-profit for the locals and free to all Mexicans. Welcome to all, the water (and sea animals) are such a privilege to know.

Ladies, I keep looking for a Sireno, but haven't found him yet. I'll let you know.
