Mother Nature has been toying with us today. We woke to a gentle but steady rain, clouds all around, a few wisps of fog on the mountain - I thought for sure we were in for a rainy day. Wrong! It drizzled a little during the day - under pretty heavy cloud cover - but when the sun came out in the late afternoon, I gave up. A beautiful sunset almost made up for it, but total rainfall for the last 12 hours came to only .14/in. No storm systems on our horizon but the current satellite image shows rain inland that may come across the coast tonight. At 9:30, I can hear a chorus of happy tree frogs outside my window, a cool breeze is blowing, the temperature is a comfy 82F/27.8C and a light drizzle has started again.

Keep your fingers crossed for real rain tonight - it should be our turn. Manzanillo has had rain for the past three days and almost everyplace else in Mexico has had rain off and on for at least a month. Only 8 days left in July and the total rainfall for this month is .88/in. I talked with Morgan today and he said the La Manz water table is very low. Maybe we should reconsider that rain dance thing.
