Traveling in Mexico is safe. I drove a friend in her car from Melaque to Salt Spring Island, BC 3 1/2 months ago. We did not encounter any problems staying on toll roads all the way up to Nogales, crossing at Mariposa. Lots of Federales and military presence on the toll roads. We're looking at me flying up and driving her down from BC to Melaque next month, same route. I have no concerns for our safety. Her car is Mexican plated.... I have driven the same route with my husband many times. We have never encountered ANY problems. Travel smart. No flashy jewelry, daytime driving only. Be aware of your surroundings. |
