Tenacatita Picnic

I would like to respond to some of the concerns out there about this picnic. The background of events in the invitation was necessary to inform people who might not know the details of the situation. Foreigners will have many options with this picnic and still be able to show support. The half of Tenacatita beach closest to La Manzanilla is not claimed by Villalobos. We would be emerging on that part of the beach. You would still be just on the edge of the contested land. The plan is to walk to the end of the beach that Villalobos is claiming is his. We have a right to be on the beach as it is federal land AND he has lost that concession anyway. If you are apprehensive you can stay on the far side of the beach, come by boat and stay in the bay or do nothing. I have the support of Rebalsito's leaders, I will be meeting with the local government of La Huerta and we will be formally inviting the neighboring ejidos who have already offered their support. I know many of you think I am a little nuts and I just want to explain that I have been going to Tenacatita since I was a baby, most of my life milestones happened there including getting married so it isn't that I don't understand the personal risks of pushing this as hard as I am. It is just that I would rather get hurt fighting this that stand by while they take the place I hold most dear in my heart and deprive my friends of their way of life. Students from the University of Guadalajara have already landed before with no problem. Our sources tell us there are a dozen cops there. In the unlikely event that they got aggressive that would be the catalyst to get this in the International News. I think you will earn the respect of your Mexicans friends if you come to this. Be prudent and be towards the back if you want. If there is trouble it will be in the front. I really don't see them being stupid enough to come down to the beach to harass this many people.
