Heck of a rain!

Wow, that was a nice heavy long rainfall. But no thunder or violence. Deanna's rain gauge collected 2.2" in a little over 1 hour!

The clouds that brought this rain were not the tall convective thunderstorm cells that show up on the infrared satellite loops, so this one just snuck up on us.

It would be nice if the Cuyutlan weather radar station was working to help spot rains like this. It hasn't been "live" on the internet since June 2010. I sent them an email about it, but no reply yet.

Use the CMA main site, then click "Radares" in the list on the right: http://smn.cna.gob.mx/

Hope the weather is cooperating for Darwin & Deanna's drive across the country...
