We usually overnight in Mazatlan at Hotel Sands Arena. We made a quick trip up North last month and we felt perfectly safe in Mazatlan. It's an older hotel right on the malecon, secure parking and very friendly staff. Lots of police vehicles patroling the malecon road. And dinner at Pancho's on the beach is always a culinary treate, leave your car at the hotel and take a pulmonia.
