Bridge over Rio Marabasco in Cihuatlan

Not really a video, but a collection of photos to make a video. Many of them show the bridge over the Rio Marabasco. I know all of you have been over it a lot, but you ever go over it when the water is about 5 vertical feet from the bridge deck? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCKkIxObjo8&NR=1

As a bridge structural engineer, I can tell you that the folks in Cihuatlan are very lucky on one hand that this bridge did not fail and very stupid, extremely stupid on the other hand to have been just lazily leaning on the guardrails of this bridge as it was in this state. This should have never been open to the public in such an event.

In 1986 at the 50th anniversary of the Golden Gate bridge, it was closed to vehicular traffic to have a celebration and allow folks out on it to stroll. When someone took a photo from far away to commemorate the event, the photo showed that the 14 feet of intentional camber (upward bow) that was built into the bridge had come completely out and it was flat, flat, flat. Never been flat before. They immediately got everyone off the bridge as fast as possible.
