Hi Bary, I can answer a few questions about our Dish Mexico service. I don't think you can pay month to month, or start and stop twice per year. Like most satellite services, it's intended for fulltime residents. There is supposedly an 18-month commitment, but I've been told you can cancel early if you're not satisfied (presumably with no penalty). That would probably be easier to get away with in the first few months.

There are some channels in our 149 peso/month 42-channel "basico" package that are almost 100% American-produced movies and shows in spoken English (sometimes with Spanish subtitles): TNT (movies & concerts), WB (comedy and drama shows), Sony (comedy & drama shows). Some other channels have various amounts of English programming: Disney, Nickelodeon (children), History Channel, Discovery, National Geo. The rest of the channels are in Spanish. The sports are all Spanish (including a few NFL games per week.)

Watching shows in English with Spanish subtitles is a great way to learn more Spanish! But keep in mind there is no guarantee of ANY English programming. They could change anytime they wanted. We haven't noticed any changes since we started in August.

Subcription option A: call Dish at 01-800-710-0110. You can try to ask for an English-speaking person ("Habla Ingles?").

Option B: If you already have a Telmex phone account you can have the monthly Dish bill included in your phone bill for convenient paying. We do this. There is no extra charge.

If you have already set up internet access to your Telmex account (to check your balance every month or even pay it using a Mexican bank account or credit card, for example,) then in this case you can subcribe to Dish online:

Go to the Dish website (http://www.dish.com.mx/), select your package, click on the big red button displaying the package monthly price, then enter your Telmex account login info, then fill out the online subcription form.

Using either subscription option, you'll need a house address, contact phone number, directions to find your house, etc. Within a few days of your subcribtion, you'll get a call (in Spanish) to schedule the installer visit. Our installer showed up late on the scheduled day and did a great job installing and aligning the antenna, running the cable into the living room and setting up and demonstrating the receiver and remote control.

The installation normally costs 299 pesos, but for several months now you only pay 199 if you use your Telmex account for billing (it comes out in 3 monthly payments, in addition to your monthly package charge.) There was no cash payment to the installer since we are billed through our Telmex account. If you don't use The Telmex option, you might have to pay the installer the installation fee and the first month's package price. I don't know.

Need any more info? Post here or call me at 351-7358. Good luck!
