If your main concern in the safety of your dog, keep it on a leash (or under control) anytime you are near the lagoon. Otherwise, there is no danger to your dog. Otherwise, there is no danger to your dog in town or on the beach. Don't let it drink out of the lagoon as that is the time when an animal is in danger of getting attack by a croc.

Re: crocs in the ocean: the day one was out in the water, I did't go in while he was down near us. A lot of folks did and there has not been a problem. We are not talking about S. Pacific salt water crocs that are very aggressive. These guys (and gals) seem to not consider us food and I have seen guys do up and touch them on the nose. (I think that is dumb)

To be candid, you are much more like to be injured or killed by any number of things before a croc gets you in LM. In the same way that it is safer to fly commercial than to drive, you are far less likely to get eaten by a croc in LM (you would be the 1st in recorded history) than you are to get in an accident on any road in the US or MX.
