Angel, Do you really think that it is necessary that people need to express "If you expect something for your time and effort then it has to be clear for all that you expect to be safe from thieves and vandals?"... Why would anyone expect anything else? What the "La Manzanilla Mexican neighbors, who are fishermen and shop keepers," Need to realize that their lives are far better with the expats being in La Manzanilla than without them. They have to be made aware that if they keep biting the hand that feeds them it won't take long before they are no longer going to be fed. It doesn't matter how old the thieves are they are still thieves. They need to be stopped and dealt with to show that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated by locals or gringos. The financial disparity between locals and gringo's will always be their. To use that as an excuse for thievery is grasping for an excuse. The people in La Manzanilla have always stepped up when a need arises and have always helped the locals whenever possible. I agree "The homeowners of La Manzanilla have contributed their ideas and values to the community but expect something back. ... That is security from vandals and thieves."
