Larry, your last 4 cars had catalytic converter problems? Yikes.
In California, you will not pass the bi-annual smog test, they will not even do the test with the engine light on. Can't sell the car without a passing smog, so if your light is on, you can't sell it.
I have a 7000 dollar (VW passat) 'to repair' bill on my car, diagnosed after a engine light came on. When smog is due, I will donate the car to a good cause.
