For those who are sunset watchers I am sure you have noticed the dance Venus and Jupiter have been doing the last month or so. I noticed it and tonight realized that this dance plus a few graphic illustrations of our solar system / universe I have seen online recently are making me more solar system / universe aware. Here are a few links. If you want a bigger version of the video just click the You Tube icon in the lower right corner. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xpezh8_venus-and-jupiter-set-for-cosmic-meetup_news http://www.astronomy.co.uk/skytonight http://www.solarsystemscope.com/ This link above is particularly interactive, click to enter the program, click on the earth, make it move around the sun and watch the planets change. http://www.space.com/14835-jupiter-venus-march-skywatching-tips.html http://www.htwins.net/scale2/ move the slider at the bottom or the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom out http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/image/0705/earth_galileo_big.mov I recall the dance that Venus, Jupiter and the moon did in 2008, that coincided with some personal high points and is firm in my memory along with Haley's comet. I remember a saying "think globally, act locally". I feel that changing to "be aware universally, think globally, act locally, testify individually". The amount of information we have in life is unparalleled, we are becoming more informed / aware of all that we already are. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/12/most-astounding-fact-universe-neil-degrasse-tyson_n_1339031.html |
