I think we should take these events very seriously. Popocatepetl Volcano erupted on Friday sending clouds of smoke and ash - a yellow alert has been issued and the evacuation routes are being set up. The Cascadia subduction zone has also experienced 5 small earthquakes (deep) in the last five days. So its not just the San Andreas fault. The theory that these small quakes relieve pressure is only one theory. |
I'm on Vancouver Island and if we have a 'big one' some say we will just sink. Regardless, I'm taking my earthquake kit out to the car. If its in the trunk, I should be able to get to it no matter where I am. Take care.
