Whooping Cough

Just in case anyone else got sick with a really deep persistent cough in La Manz this winter, I came down with it the end of February --- pretty sure I picked it up in La Manz --- and I'm still getting over it. My doctor says it is probably Whooping Cough (Pertussis). The adult symptoms are milder than that of infants. But it's still NO FUN! People might want to get the pertussis booster before they come back down --- we're the culprits in spreading it to infants, who can't be immunized and don't have any immunities yet. NPR had a story yesterday about a whooping cough outbreak in Washington State going on right now and there's plenty online about the symptoms and treatment. Just thought I'd share the info (and not the germ!). Sylvia |
