Too long didn't read - Just a day in La Manzanilla, OMG.

Mine begins with Thursday morning realizing that there is a hurricane event
coming our way and that I should do what I can to prepare. Me and Lionel,
my assistant worked all day, mostly on my property and the road
(Calle Mariposa) placing sand bags and trying to get done in one day what
needed two or three day's to complete i.e. we did not get it all done.
Back at the office I look at the interactive NOAA and see a mirror of the
situation when hurricane Jova tore up the town, I got sad, out at the beach
bar for sunset my compadres were saying that I should not be so negative,
I only saw a lot of work and expense coming our way.

Friday morning I wake up to increasing levels of intensity of rain, I am
snug in my bed looking out the window, watching the rain on the palapa
next door as it runs down from one palm to another dripping off
the tips of one palapa to another. It is a very meditative sight and sound,
one that brings me right into the present, moment by moment, mesmerizing,
still, each moment complete in and on its own.

Eventually I start preparing my head to deal with the reality of the day.
I know there is a shit load to do and the opportunity to stress out
and really go to it is looked at in contrast to taking the day slowly,
five minutes at a time, damn the rest. I choose the latter.
I start with clearing the stuff off the beach and patio behind the office.
By 12 pm I have that done and am relived to see the track of the hurricane
has shifted to the North. I enter into a period of no activity, of waiting.

I eat some lunch and decide to take a siesta. Awakening I find that the
hurricane is no longer a threat and enter into the next five minutes,
which turns out to be a couple friends of mine coming by with a bottle
of Corralejo! We move out to the only part of the beach bar left (I had moved
the rest off the beach) and are soon joined by others. People come to see
the big waves, Dave Collins comes with his paddle board and to challenge
and conquer the big waves, he succeeded, quite impressive. It is a
wonderful energy filled evening, all live on La Manzanilla TV.
