Relax, this is the off season and nothing is moving very quickly. Renting this far in advance of February involves contacting the property owner (to confirm they will not be using the property) and then, it can take a long time (21 days) for a Mexican bank to get confirmation of a secure transaction returned from the "foreign" source and relayed to the depositor. The delays you are experiencing are "normal". Most financial transactions in Jalisco are cash. Bank drafts, Money Orders, Credit Cards, Debit Cards, "wired funds" are "foreign" entities. There is not a bank in La Manz, and quite likely the your financial institution did not have a direct relationship with Ada's bank. Ada and her agency are well established and have a high profile in town. I have rented from several different agencies/independent hotels in the area -- not to worry. (One time, I paid my deposit to a hotel in nearby Melaque, it was sent to an address in Guadalajara 60 days in advance of my arrival. The funds were deposited in the hotel's account while I was staying there. The hotel was aware of the "paper trail" and there was no problem with my reservation. But, that's how long it took for the transaction to be completed.) February is a great time to be in La Manz. Humpback whales in the bay, great weather, & if its early February the La Manz Rodeo. jim |
