Hi all, just got back from an appointment in Manzanillo. The highway wasn't too bad this morning; just the usual fallen rocks going through the hilly part, and debris across the road in Emiliano Zapata. The road construction guys had the E. Zapata mess scraped off by our return this afternoon. The highway through Melaque was OK (no flowing water in their big ditch), and Cihuatlan looked fine.

Drumroll, please...we got 4.18" since midnight, and over 5" since yesterday evening! Pretty amazing amount, but it just came down so steadily and never stopped for several hours. It has rained every day since Saturday, for a "Invest 95 total" so far of 7.3". Add the 0.42" from the thunderstorm last Wednesday for a June total so far of 7.72". June's average (2004-2011) is only 2.47", and the previous record was only 5.52" in 2009. New record!

PS, Invest 95 is dead. Anything else we get is just leftovers.

Total YTD rainfall is 11.43", with the 2" in Feb, the 1.6" from Hurricane Bud, and 0.4" from a thunderstorm last week. The average annual rainfall for La Manzanilla is 34.8" (2004-2011.) We already have recorded 35% of this, and we're only a few weeks into our rainy season! It may be a record wet season at this rate.

The Tomzap board for Melaque & Barra (http://69.73.170.179/ph5/read.php?12,86393) mentions they had almost 10" since Saturday. The lagoon broached into their bay as usual, carrying tons of that lagoon vegetation, muddy water and small trees out across the bay.

The Manzanillo airport doesn't report rainfall (very low-budget weather operation there.) The Weather Underground personal weather station in Santiago (suburb of Manzanillo) reports less than one inch since midnight: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/hdfForecast?query=manzanillo%2C+mexico&searchType=WEATHER

And another sign that we're well into our wet season: the sewer manhole cover by the crocodile viewing kiosk has started to gush. Sorry, crocs!
