The point is well made that many people who own real estate benefit from rapidle rising values and that is just part of one's participation in the capitalist market place. It is certainly not "unethical". The Mexican people voted in a free market system of governance, and therefore must accept the ramifications of it.

As in all parts of the world where people make big profits from real estate, some people gain, and some lose (those who are caught without and can't afford to get in). Certanly, in a general sense, most folks in La Manz have benefited.

I am not aware that any local can get free, or even cheap, land from the ejido. If so, great. If not, then the landless have lost out. What's new?

In the meantime I would pleased to make a profit when I sell my place here. If I lose, that's okay too, because I will have have had many years enjoying life in this great place, and benefited from the warmth and kindness of my Mexican hosts.
