The motel Oasis in Matehuala has a don't ask don't tell policy. It is an old 50's resort hotel that is finally falling apart, but very cheap at about $230 pesos double per night. No Tell Motels are ideal, usually at less than the Oasis or about $275 pesos with a spa in the room. Just be sure to have eaten or to have purchased whatever you want to have for the evening in advance. Otherwise, you may have a "Club Sandwich" experience of the third kind. (You can't leave once you enter without paying all over again unless it is one of the very few that actually has a restaurant on premises.) These are amongst the cleanest and best (romantically)lit rooms you could imagine. Be aware that there will likely be hard-core porn playing on the TV as you enter, however.
