I managed to get a one way fare from Comox (BC) to Puerto Vallarta for $520.00 for two! They have great seat sales but you have to subscribe to their newsletter and/or have them on your Facebook page. I just get one way since we don't know exactly when we'll return. We'll return this year via Calgary, and probably fly that way next year. Either way you have to stop for the night somewhere; Calgary or Puerto Vallarta. The plus for us will be the shorter drive time from and to the airports. Travelling to Puerto Vallarta is about 4 - 5 hours, right? We hired a driver at about $150.00 so that increased our cost, when leaving La Manz last year. So, Manzanillo is looking great! I would do it on the way down but I'd already bought our cheap ticket to PV before they announced the new route, and it would cost too much to change it.

We're done with Air Alaska. It was nice but I am very glad not to have to use LAX. That probably drives the entire decision for us.

I looked into the companion fare credit card but we don't make the minimum salary to get the companion fare rate. *sob* Westjet's bank carrier (Royal) wants an annual income of over $100,000 before they'll bless you with that card.

Hope this helps. If you use Westjet, then I recommend you subscribe to their newsletters and really watch for seat sales.
