I think you may be out of line on this post, Daniel. I am a Canadian. In fact, the murdered man comes from my home town in the Comox Valley region in B.C. I am deeply upset by the violence in this country, against Canadians as well as others. Need I list the Canadians killed in Mexico in the last year - Puerta Vallarta, Cancun, Melaque, Culiacan, Mexico City, Barra de Navidad, etc.

I am very troubled by the news reports out of Mexico on this topic. It's bad for the image of Mexico, and very bad for tourism that Mexico needs. Canadians make up a significant percentage of tourists here.

I have searched most of the printed media reports in Canada of this event. Without exception, they are all brief, to the point and lacking in any bias towards Mexico. None mention gangs, AK-47's, bullet ridden cars, or uncontrolled violence. If the TV media interviewed people who spoke of these things, then that is simply those people's impressions of Mexico. Sad, but that is the reality of it.

Nobody in Canada has a hate-on for Mexico. Preventing tourist dollars from going to Mexico? What! What is a fact is that there is a real problem is prevention of criminal violence against people in Mexico. The incoming federal government here believes that. Most foreigners who know Mexico know that. The North American news media knows that.

Get pissed off if you like, but aim it in the right direction.
