I have looked at news reporting from GlobalTV, CBC, Globe & Mail, Vancouver Sun, and find no mention of AK47's and such. Where is this person getting this from? These are the major news sources in Canada, and their reporting has been actually quite sparse.

But, to put things into perspective, here are the crime stats from Hawaii:
