Ours is suprisingly fast. I'm wondering why. Last year we had Telmex come out and check it out. The service guy checked our download/upload - whatever it is - with his meter. He said it was adequate. We said it was not. He made a phone call and then gave us a different modem which looks slightly different from the older versions. End of problem.
