ps...... it's called "chip-seal". I know we like the smooth asphalt roads, but unless they have a very expensive additive, they get wrecked in just a few months. The new road over from Melaque was really nice, but wouldn't last unless they did the chip-seal. If you go on the paved road to Boca, you can see the chips on the surface. It hardens the surface. In some more prosperous areas, they have a roller along with the spreader to roll the chips into the surface. When I was a kid, they did a chip-seal in our part of the country. My dad sent me out with a wheel barrow, shovel and broom to sweep up the chips on the side of the road and bring them back to our drive way. As I remember, (this was in TX) it was about 110 in the shade and 110 percent humidy. It kept me form getting fat. |
