Community Service is a wonderful way to give back but there can be a saturation point on how many projects can be supported by continuous requests for donations. So whats next ..... tacking extra fees on electric bills to force funding for lofty goals . Whats next .... Well I think the town needs a new fire truck . Lets have a tax for that. The ambulance service sounds wonderful but also very expensive and the costs of such a service will increase every year. Is it just to be run during the tourist season ? There is no shortage of great ideas . As the old saying goes " with your brain and my money .... we will create Utopia ". I know it gets boring in paradise after 6 weeks but slow down a bit , everyone is climbing over each other , trying to do good . Checkbook diplomacy can create alot of problems in the long run. You want to do something , teach a small engine or appliance repair course after school . Internet communications , how to use carpentry tools safely , art courses etc etc . You have a skill .... set up a time at the local school and teach those who are interested . These things do not cost huge amounts of money to be sustainable and the personal satisfaction knowing you are doing good can be rewarding to all . Just me thinking out loud again . |
