Laura selling her berries in the tanguis this morning in La Manzanilla. We met her years ago when she was a maid at the house we stayed at in Melaque. She's a very cheerful person, and her name is pronounced La-oo-ra in Spanish. She lives in Melaque, is married with 4 children ranging in age from 8 to 17. Her berries come fresh from Zamora, Michoacan. She says they are chemical-free, (she didn't know about "organic"). She says it is best to soak them in bactericide (try the grapefruit extract drops from Linda Mandala) to clean them, as they sometimes use "popo" to feed the plants.  |
