Thanks so much for dancing to end violence toward women. I'm so happy to see women (and men) standing, dancing and speaking out. As you may know, in Canada, many First Nations women are raped, missing and murdered. A Billion Rising was part of the Idle No More movement. For those of you who are confused by the media, let me put it as simply as possible. Canada's Harper government has hog-tied environmentalists who are concerned about the effects of the oil and gas industry on the environment. First Nations (especially in BC) are the only people who have a legal right to stop the mining companies since much of the land is unceded territory and most treaties have not been finalized. Idle No More is a coalition of Native People and Environmentalists who seek to protect the Earth for future generations. Idle No More means that we will not sit idly by, watching the destruction of the environment and the disrespect shown to our First Nations. Ecocide=Genocide. Please inform yourselves.
