It is interesting that there are no clear guidelines as to when you must take out "Residente Permanante", and therefore do something about your foreign-plated car. In my case, I had 6 years of FM3 and was allowed to take out a 3-year "Residente Temporal", meaning that I could go to ADUANA and renew my car permit for the same 3-year period. So why are some people being made to take out a Resident Permanante after 5 years of FM3? After that the car goes back north and I will buy a Mexican car. Why pay out all that money to import a car?
