bookstore update..the annual

Normally I try and get this out in April...where does the time go? Like to let you, the customer, know what went on this past season...so here goes. While we were able to pay our rent and light bills, take care of 5 scholarships, with a graduating senior this year, AND help with three local persons with serious health issues...or sales for the first time were down for the first time. Good thing we had lots of night volunteers to help with sales as without them we could not have paid for one scholarship! So what happened? I think we lost quite a bit this year to, yes, the digital book. Whle I totally understand the concept, kinda, I think we might have a solution to the problem. To those of you who come in and apologize for not buying books because you have digitalized...bring some good paper books instead. That way we have more good quality to sell and will sell more because of your generosity. We can then report better sales in the future year! And so...here we are now in the quiet time...just Barb and I for the next 6 weeks then the summer volunteers come on board. To those voulunteers returning in Nov....please let me know if you want another season at th bookstore and I will mark the schedule now. Thanks so very much to all who help in every way.
