Just a couple of additional thoughts to add to the "Cruz" report. The money given to Pedro yesterday came from the fund we collected a year ago to help with the police then. That was under a different administration with a different President in La Huerta as well. The past President promised us help and would match funds with us. We did our job...and he did not.

Since then Pedro was elected and has gotten this community the two 24/7 policemen on mottos, a phone for emergencies and has cleaned up the living conditions for the police. Currently he is working on the public bath areas to encourage it's use rather than the arroyo.

In a talk with him yesterday, I asked how much it cost to have the mottos cruise the streets to provide more security. As it happens, it is not much...approx. 500 pesos per week. And he stores the petrol at the
Delegacion and gives it out as needed so that it cannot be stolen or sold. The money given to him yesterday out of the original fund will help for the next two weeks. He is working with LaHuerta to get funds for gas on a continual basis, however, they are doling money out to many communities and we are new to having police on a permanent basis.

So to those that want to help, we are trying to get a paypal account set up. Is all crime being solved here and there are no problems???????? Well no, but we are getting closer to a more efficient system that has never been in place before. Thanks, Stephanie
