Patti,

I thank you for all you do. It was a very fun event to say the least. Lyle's step into this storied game has been a tepid one in the past. Sure, he knows OF the game and we've dabbled in it. But, it takes that special spark to ignite a kids love of baseball. The weather, your spirit, Dog House John's patience, and the collection of all of Lyle compadres being there has, in my opinion, changed his whole deal. I have seen his talents sharpen A LOT over this season. He is excited. He is enthusiastic. He is interested. It has been great. The participation has given him a new way to infuse with other kids from other barrios here in town and since he is not in the public school system, he has not had that chance in a while. Really expands his horizons and reach here in La Manzanilla. Later on that evening, at Eloy's restaurant (Issac's dad), one local kid made mention of the baseball event that day and in his comment he had the term, "All of the Mexican kids and Lyle". He was quickly admonished by Issac's mom as she operated the kitchen area of the restaurant and she promptly told him, "Lyle is a Mexican! He's been here longer than you!" The youngster did not know what to think because Liz, a fixture in this town, was pretty emphatic. Anyway, the whole deal is, in my opinion, the BEST run deal in La Manzanilla. Top shelf if you ask me.

Now for Jerry's comments about the Phillies game, well, I think having the prostate exam is better than going to a Phillies game so there you have it.

Definately looking forward to next year's baseball. See you in late October! Sorry about those Red Wings!
