Really sorry to hear that you were made a victim of the burglary and the invasion of your space. It can't be a good feeling. I must say that these type of crimes have always been present in Mexico and we as a family have had our share of them since we ever started coming down some many years ago. We do want to spend time in Mexico so we try to do whatever it takes to be safe. We do have metal protections all around the ground floor openings and stairways. I hear so much about how a screen was cut for entry. Maybe it's time to deal with that problem. If it isn't easy for them to get in they will move on. Steps need to be taken or they will likely come back if you remain as an easy mark. We lock up everytime we go out even if it is just to the store for 10 minutes. I'm afraid that that is what it takes. Just consider that someone is always watching and waiting for the opportune moment. Police are great to have around but as usual there are not enough of them, they don't have resources(gas and equipment for example), so they can't be everywhere all the time. We may get hit sometime too, you never know, but we do our best to avoid it. Best of luck to everyone!
