Dear Canadian friends, You might inquire about trip insurance with just medical care as an option. Canadians do qualify for Medjet Assist Insurance. We just purchased it for ourselves a almost reasonable sum. It helps with emergency medical care and more importantly transportation home by jet with nurse in case of emergency to the hospital of your choice. We have purchased it for ourselves because we have two family members overseas. We plan to do a lot of international travel in the next two years and are no longer spring chickens. Unfortunately if you are over 80 year of age they require a lot of rigamarole. It might be worth a look see. I have heard good things about it.
