It sure did quiet down and clear up the last few days of September. Could the rains be done for the season? Probably not: October averages 4". There's not much going on in our tropical storm breeding grounds right now; just a 10% non-Invest to our south heading west out to sea. At least the heat only came back on halfway. It's not crazy-hot like late June was. Stats for September 2013: Rain: 14.46" / 367mm. Well over the historical avg for Sep (from 2004-2012): 9.85" / 250mm. Blame TS Manuel for over 4" of this. Rainfall YTD: 34.13" / 867mm. Still almost 2" to go to reach the historical avg yearly amount of 35.96" / 913mm. So we're a couple inches ahead of normal for this date. Max temp was 94.5°F / 34.7°C on the 12th. Avg max temp for this month was 89.0°F / 31.7°C. Historical avg max temp for Sep: (TBD) The minimum (afternoon) humidity averaged 70% for the month, yielding an average afternoon heat index of 103°F / 39°C. BRRRRR.... |
