Yes, I agree with most that staying overnight is probably better. And Jim's advice is spot on about staying in the Romantic Zone somewhere (we like the funky, infamous and cheap 2-star Posada de Roger - http://www.hotelposadaderoger.com/) and then catching the bus at the "informal bus stop at the corner of Aguacate and Carranza in south side PV", which is only a few blocks away from "the Roger". Better than having to go the wrong way a half hour out to the bus terminal only to backtrack south again. We also paid for and printed our tickets online on the Primera site, but as pauline advised, there are other bus companies (we've also rode with Autotransportes Cihuatlán from Melaque to PV)
