Just for the record...one can easily open a checking account at Banamex. I did 10 years ago and pay out my telephone bill thru them and have had no problems. Also you can write checks locally for larger amounts without having to have large amounts of cash on hand. I cash checks in other cities as well with no problems...just an idea for those having problems, not necessarily an endorsement for Banamex...but a huge convenience.
