Thanks for posting these articles, Daniel. Iīll have to take time to read them before commenting on them. Itīs crucial to have context for where we live and the potentially drastic changes that are upon La Manzanilla and the Costalegre. It amazes me that many are not even aware of the type of ecosystem that surrounds us: tropical dry forest, the most threatened tropical ecosystem in world due to deforestation. As well, the Jaliscan dry forest which envelops us contains the highest rates of biodiversity and endemic species (plants and animals only found in Mexico; we have 110 endemic plants and 84 endemic vertebrates here) of all tropical dry forests on the planet. The World Wildlife Fund and Conservation International have both named this eco-region a global biodiversity "hotspot". Enjoy its natural wonders while you can... and give it a helping hand! |
