A hearty 'thank you' to a very musical bunch of singers last night! It was such a nice response — our friends Rita and Cruz said they counted 45 people. We'd like to do it again Wed., Feb 26 at The Club (free). The original information at the bottom is a re-cap of what this is all about. Feedback so far included liking the good mix of songs, the "walking" 3-part round, the availability of a full bar, the ease of joining in even for those who don't often sing, and the beautiful sound the group produced. Suggestions for next time include having us provide larger print for the words, and speaking a little louder on the commentary because of The Club acoustics. The Club is available to us only on Wednesdays. Would you prefer the same 7:30 time? or 7:00? or 8:00? Two things we need on Feb 26: 1. A bunch of long brown Poinciana beans that we see around town hanging from trees, if they still have a good rattle sound. 2. We'd like some interested folks to come a half hour early so Ann can teach you a fun cup tapping & passing game to accompany a song. ORIGINAL INFORMATION (from Wed., Feb 12): Will and Ann Schmid invite you to sit back and listen or sing along with us at "The Club" on Wed, Feb 26 at xx PM. It’s a Singalong (but not an instrumental jam), so we’ll perform a little and then teach those who want to sing how to join in. Full bar and soft drinks. "The Club" is about a block past (north of) Palapa Joe's, same side of the street, UPSTAIRS. It’s FREE. Will founded the "Get America Singing Again" national campaign, and taught a course in American Folk and Popular Music at the U of Wis-Milwaukee. Ann founded and directed the Stringalong Weekends for 30 years — nationally-attended amateur music and singing festival retreats. The Schmids have been performing together (with guitar & autoharp) and leading choirs & amateur singing groups for almost 40 years.
