This morning, Don Fidel (Valdez Jara) is out cleaning the beach in front of one of the three houses he is care-taking here in La Manzanilla.
- When did you come to this village?
42 years ago, I am 75 years old now...
I have one child, my daughter Oralia, who is working at Tamarindo.
- I heard they are going to build a big hotel there soon?
(Laughs) They're always saying that!

One more photo of Don Fidel... He is always active and busy working, and rides his bike every day. He has had serious health challenges in the recent past, but he seems to be strong now.
He is one of the nicest men I have ever met, and would truly give you the shirt off his back...
