Bug? Anyone recognize this one?

I saw these bugs on my deck this morning. They are the weirdest thing I have seen in a long time. At first they looked like melon seeds, but then I noticed they were walking. No legs visible. The only thing that was visible when it moved, was what appeared to be a head coming out in the front. They are about 1/3 - 1/2 inch long. Any ideas? Sorry the picture is a bit fuzzy.
