Art Walk, continued . . . .

Folks seemed to want to sum up and close out on Carol's earlier message. With 37 postings this is obviously a topic needing further discussion. Some of those who see themselves as "The establishment" may want to limit others with a different point of view, may I politely say bullshit!

Those same folks who see Art Walk as "cast in stone", "never to change", "good as it gets", are missing out on a load of collective knowledge. Most of the participating artists are well seasoned veterans of showing and presenting their works at public venues, only a fool would want to close the conversation before they are heard in full.

Rather than limiting the discussion, if we indeed have until Dec. 1st, open the topic up until a consensus can be reached. Include a ballot with the sign up documents if you must, but allow the participants to shape and guide the program. The alternative is gradual decline and shrinking participation as dis-gruntled folks drop out from frustration.

I for one, would like to see the program expanded. Two days for a show is pretty normal, not everyone is open both days, artists choice. Additionally, how about using the Casino as a central venue where small displays and late arrivals can set up shop. Expand the offering with a few food vendors at the Casino, chairs for the tired souls needing a break, and music to entertain those hubbies not willing to trudge up and down the hills in Lamanz. Furthermore, a concentrated effort should be made to include Native Artisans and their work, unless this is really a closed "Club" afraid of a little change.
