I agree that there have been many good suggestions: Casino, Ejido hall, jardin, food, entertainment, rest-your-fanny chairs set about, two days (lots of extra work for artists setting up and breaking down twice)--much food for thought, but I wonder whether the volunteer saturation level has been reached and whether adding to that load would result in. . . well . . . overload.
What happened with Rodeo/Gringo Day this year? Hmmm, not enough volunteers and too much grouching about those who have done the work in the past. Oh, and lots of comment about 'the establishment'. I wonder just who sees whom in this way.
I, for one, am a bit tired--nope, change that: REALLY tired--of the mud-slinging. Positive suggestions, I think, are always welcome, OH, and helping hands, possibly even money.
Regarding the comment that "With 37 postings this is obviously a topic needing further discussion."--might I suggest that 37 postings suggests this topic has been, as a message board thread, about exhausted.
Oh, and how does one "politely say 'bullshit'"? Politely? Methinks the speaker doth underestimate the power of words.
In my several years of enjoying the Art Walk, I've certainly not noticed a "gradual decline and shrinking participation as dis-gruntled folks drop out from frustration." Quite the opposite, in fact.
I'm not suggesting that changes cannot refresh an organization, but I want to thank those who do the work for . . . well, for doing the work. Art Walk is a much-loved part of the La Manz scene, and I know I'm not alone in looking forward to that day (possibly days, in the future) each year and enjoying immensely. :O)
