There will be a Yard Sale at Dorothy's on Sunday the 18th of January beginning at 9 am. If you have a table, please bring it along. No pets, please and no sellers before 8:30 am. Dorothy lives on Los Angeles Locos, just off Concha Molida next to Lupita and across the street from Liz's; if you get lost, just ask anyone.

This map feels upside down, but if you turn your computer, it makes sense; except you can't with an iPad! Gracias, Daniel, for the map.

The map is close to North (top) South (bottom) East (right) West (left / ocean) correct. The cell tower, school, clinic are good points, not as good as say Palapa Joes. Here is Google earth

Eileen, you're looking at it from the other side of the river. My lot is where it belongs in relation to everything else on the map.

Unrelated to the Yard Sale news. This is the second map I've seen with a street that does not exist .. Calle Palmeras .. No such street there nor will there ever be .. New dentist office with upstairs rental units there.

Not to say you are wrong but any source to back up your claim? It is not like there are street signs here. Many streets are sin nombre (no name) and other street names are made up by the people who live on the road. My source is the official PROCEDE map from 2001 (top), although the Calle Palmeras name is not on the DWG map from La Huerta (btm) "nor will there ever be"....are you new here?

To edit my post. It is true that Calle Palmeras is not currently open to traffic. There are several roads in La Manzanilla that exist on a map only. I have been told that when they were making roads and maps they would just take a ruler and make a line where the road should go. Sometimes when you go to where the road should be it will be straight up a hill or something. It doesn't mean the road (right of way / access) doesn't exist. Mexico does take some getting used to It helps to remember that La Manzanilla is still developing. Back when I graded my lots on the hill (95) the only person I had to talk to was the guy driving the tractor. I think now a day's you have to let someone "official" know if you want to make a road or grade a lot. Another old story...Apache was the first one to live on Calle Mariposa, it was just a hill with no roads (93). He contacted a tractor driver and asked him to make a road up to where he wanted to build. He left for Guadalajara to buy a car and when he got back the guy had made a road going straight up the hill, no curves or anything, it was impossible to go up it in a car! After some time they found an old guy who knew how to make a road and he walked in front of the tractor telling him where to go. That is how Calle Mariposa (above the Plaza de Toros) was made.

Great story, Daniel, and it somehow helps explain why the road running past my house in the winter is actually a river in the wet season.

Yup, you got a lot of water going down there. I don't know the history of your street but I would imagine it was not a street for many years. It is a strange place (Dorthy's yard sale) to talk about roads but....so. Calle Palmeras is also a place where rain water goes but a lot less than used to. About 7 years ago those dips you go through (after you pass the dentist) did not exist and that whole area on the left used to fill up with water when it rained hard. I think most of the water went through Calle Palmeras. Then they made the big dips (probably should have been pipes under the road) which let the water go into the Lagoon and the problem was solved.
