Recycling

Posted by Cathy on January 18, 2015, 9:37 am

Can anyone tell me what and how we can recycle ? Is there a bin for bottles, plastics , juice cartons etc?
I noticed kids going through our garbage for plastics (I think)
I would bag these separately and leave on the curb but not sure what has any value.
Thanks

More likely they were looking for cans for the aluminum. Recycling has
had difficulty here, mostly related to getting the big recycling people to
come pick it up (if I remember correctly). Here is a link to some old
discussions on recycling, looks like the list needs to be updated, try
searching the archives if you care to.

I watched a series on India recently, the recyclers there learned to chip the
plastics for more efficient recycling. Here are the links, the plastic part
is at the beginning of part 1 it picks up again at 17:50 then 35:00

There is a box of sorts for recycling plastics, and they do come to pick the items up regularly. The location is across from Mele's pollo asado stand on the main road through town. That's the only type of recycling that i know if that's happening here, unless you have metals and old appliances and such.

We saw some kids sorting through for plastics, at a drop off spot in the jardin. We had two large bottles and they gratefully accepted those. Why we don't know but they had a lot of plastic. Must be some benefit. I'll take my plastic in more often now.
