Bringing food onto plane?

Posted by Siki Mcivor on January 21, 2015, 6:24 pm

Hi again, flying out of Vancouver we are not allowed to bring food or drink onto the plane unless it was bought from one of the stores/restaurants on the other side of security.

I am wondering if flying out of P.V. Or Manzanillo they have the same regulations or can you bring your own food on?

Any information appreciatied, cheers!

For many years flying out of Vancouver I have been bringing our breakfast and lunch to eat on the plane. (Fruit and sandwiches.) Yes you have to buy your beverages after the security check. Check out the airlines rules and you will see that you are allowed to bring food on board for consumption on the airplane. Coming home from Mexico we always stop at Chicken Boy in Chihuatlan and buy a whole chicken to take on the plane. They sometimes take away our salsa at the security check and I try not to get upset. Someone's been lying to you!

Check the airline rules and you'll see that there are no restrictions on food items, only beverages.

Customs regulations from Canada into the US and Mexico are another matter. If you travel on an American airline, such as Alaska, out of Vancouver where you clear US customs at the Vancouver airport, they will take away any fruit you are carrying.

Fly Westjet and set up your gourmet lunch.

I did just that, Larry, when I flew back here early January - for about a dollar more I had a wonderful lunch as opposed to those "snacks" they sell on the plane.

Yippee! I'm full of hope that I never have to eat airplane food again. Thanks all.
