Well, one does not see this often. The beach people have left, no one is in the water AND, it stinks. You can even taste it. Yuck. Maybe the crocs are enjoying swimming in their water mixed with the ocean.

Somewhere in that beach report is the pueblo we love. Strange sometimes
how that works, like inherent in the rustic Mexico is rustic Mexico.

Judy B:

This photo doesn't look recent as you can see the Laguna dumping into the ocean...maybe last September or October...right?

Thanks, Jean. I should have read David D.'s posting before I commented. Well, there goes my morning swim in front of Pedro's....

Looks like the lagoon has stopped running. No one is in the water. Pretty brown still but won't be long before it clears.

It is still running, just walked down the road.
I doubt if you will see anyone that has any sense out swimming for a long while. Sure ruined a lot of people's vacation. I seen people walking around town with mask and towels over their face last night. I heard that it will be open until Friday.

Thanks, Judy B.! Wife and I are heading to Boca, which is supposedly clear. I've got to get that swim in, and I don't fancy sewer water...

Unfortunately, as of about noon today (Wednesday), the smell near the swamp on the beach is terrible.

We need to ask why the lagoon was opened ...well if any of you had to drive around via Boca you would know water level is way up ..like over road on both sides ...would this have anything to do with blocking natures way rather than putting in the frigin BRIDGE.????? Every year .....and the word is from someone who actually talked to La Huerta there is money for it so a little pressure now that the tourists are threatened by the smell and ocean condition would seem timely.

Usually they drain it after the rains so it is not over the road and flooding
the farmlands. This year we had so much rain that if filled up again causing
the same problems over again. I think its the third or fourth time the Lagoon
was opened this year due to the big rain year we had so it is somewhat unique
in that sense. Also I hear that the high water level was interferring with
the Lagoon tour (or something along that line). Also they usually let it
drain completely and nature closes it up when its done, now they have closed
it while it was still flowing, another unique event as far as I remember.

Sounds like you are having the same water table problems that Melaque is having. Lagoon has opened much more than normal and water keeps filling it. Water is backing up into communities.

Lagoon here is a water/waste treatment plant so maybe yours also

I guess folks who live on the beach road could also say, thank you for filling in the lagoon with a road so I don't have to drive to Boca to get to my house. Anybody ever say that?? I mean, did god put a road there way back when???
Just sitting here wondering..
