One More Quick Question

Is it possible to drive over to the snorkeling beach at Tenacatita now? If not, how close can one get?

Alternatively, is anyone doing reasonably priced group boat ferry over there to snorkel this coming week?

Whoops, that's three questions!

Gracias!!

When we were last at Tenacatita in late February, the security guards were still preventing people from driving over the hill to the snorkel beach. However, you can park fairly close and with sturdy sandals, you can walk around the rocks and enjoy the snorkel beach.

Watch the tide tables, it is far easier at low tide.

Mike will take up to six people by boat. His fish and bait shop is across the street from the north point of the 'Y'. He will wait or come back for you, whichever is more suitable to both you and him.

Thanks to all! Good information.

Now we just need someone to get rid of those beach blocking Nazis and the greedy pig who put them there.

We were so lucky to have experienced Tenacatita before the pig destroyed the place. It was wonderful. What a tragic loss for everyone including all the nice folks with their cool beach front restaurants.

My sister and I took a boat trip over with Sergio (contact through boat shop) on Wednesday and it was a lovely experience. We boated along the shoreline, went up the mangrove quite a ways, saw incredible birds, plants and tiger crabs, continued onto Tenatatica and snorkeled for an hour. We were not able to walk over the hill and the tide was too high to skirt around the rocks. Instead we walked over the hill towards the ocean side. The whole trip was from 9:30 to around 1:00 and was a delightful way to spend the day. I had not been to Tenatatica since 1989 when I kayaked in from Barre de Navidad-very sad to see the changes.

Kathy, what did that trip cost you.

Anyone interested in sharing a trip with me Wednesday-Saturday? I'm assuming the rain will stop by then.

We're at the Casa Chaluda tomorrow, the place with the pool on the beach and 4 efficiencies out back, up by the camp ground.

Let me know when you find out how much the trip will cost? Maybe I could send my husband!

There are 2 of us ladies up for a boat trip to Tenakateta & snorkeling. Thursday is a good day for us this week.
Let us know if you put a trip together...seems like the masses have departed & we are game!

Apparently Sergio charged two people 300 pesos per person for four hours, plus tip. I'd be happy to share a ride with your husband, Sandy.

Our cell phone is 3331388855 and we'll be arriving late afternoon to Casa Chaluda. Anyone else interested, post here or call me this evening. I'm open for any day after Tuesday, I'm thinking that by then the weather will have settled down.
